Awesome Brunch Spots Everyone Must Try When in Sydney

What's not to love about brunch? The fancy breakfast/casual lunch combo has become one of our favourite ways to ease into a weekend in the city or to sooth aching heads after a night out. However you plan on doing it, here are some of our top Sydney brunch spots.

Bourke St Bakery

Within a few years, Bourke St Bakery has become something of an icon in breakfast Sydney food with numerous branches popping up around the city. The original and best, surprisingly enough, is still to be found on Bourke St. Aside from the freshly baked treats on offer (including vegan friendly options), this cosy hangout also does a mean range of sliders including a wagyu beef worth the queue alone.

The Stinking Bishops

Fans of cheese will find their own slightly pungent heaven on Enmore Road. This dairy obsessed eatery has a top notch rotating menu of dairy treats and knowledgeable staff who can help you through the current offerings. For a relaxed brunch in Sydney, pick over a cheese or meat board with good company and even better coffee.

Black Star Pastry

For some top Insta food snaps, it's hard to beat Black Star Pastry and their gorgeous assortment of cakes including favourites like Japanese Forest and Black Sesame and Yuzu. Each slice appears at the table looking like a work of art, but this place also doubles as one of the top breakfast places Sydney has. Grab a brekkie slider or kangaroo pie to devour on while deciding on a sweet finish.

Courthouse Hotel

Try a warm and laid back brunch in Sydney among the jukeboxes and pinball machines at the sprawling Courthouse Hotel. The casual atmosphere and honest food are the perfect way to sink into a lazy day amongst traditional Aussie pub style decor, maybe the best brunch Sydney provides for those who like it simple.

The Pig & Pastry

A relative newcomer to the world of Sydney brunch spots is the Pig & Pastry. This intimate local cafe is run by a passionate team of foodies dedicated to sourcing the very best of local produce. Ask at the counter for the best of the day's baking or, for early risers, enjoy the aroma of fresh bread while tucking into breakfast Sydney style.

The Grounds of Alexandria

A seemingly magical transformation occurred in the west Alexandria suburb back in 2012. Where once stood concrete industrial buildings from the 1920’s and a dull car park came a chic food focused hotspot brimming with playful decor and community engagement. Part farmer’s market, part wholesome restaurant, with a small farm thrown in for good measure, the Grounds of Alexandria is a truly unique experience. Enjoy some of the best brunch Sydney serves up before exploring the hands-on learning experiences on site.

With the huge variety of brunch and breakfast places Sydney has to offer, your perfect hangout could be just around the corner. Step out and find your new local.
